Here’s proof that Bible doctrine isn’t dull. Bible doctrine gets a bad rap. It's anything but boring. The Bible is to doctrine what a recipe is to the delicious results. What satisfies is the outcome—the mouth-watering morsel—not the lifeless list of ingredients. If all you know of Scripture is Bible characters and stories, you’re missing its life-changing teachings. The crucifixion was an event. What it means is doctrine. In this third installment of Michael S. Heiser’s 60 Second Scholar series, Dr. Heiser shows readers how to think carefully, analytically—theologically—about what the Bible says. The 60 Second Scholar 100 Observations on Bible Doctrine covers the spectrum of Christian doctrine, succinctly drawing doctrinal meaning from the biblical text independent of denominational traditions.

‘The 60 Second Scholar: 100 Observations on Bible Doctrine,’ by Dr Michael Heiser is an excellent collection of short chapters that can be read as one would read a daily devotional. As the title indicates they address issues of Bible doctrine. There are great chapters on Bible passages that touch on doctrines like the Trinity, the incarnation, the will of God, and eschatology. Dr. Heiser remains orthodox throughout even though some of his interpretations will unfamiliar to those who have not read his book, The Unseen Realm’. At other times I am tempted to think of Dr. Heiser as the Inigo Montoya (Princess Bride) of Bible studies. He takes well-worn proof texts and says the equivalent of, ‘You keep using that [verse]. I do not think it means what you think it means’ and then goes on to explain. This is a good thing even if it might be unsettling to those who base too much on a passage that doesn’t make the point one might assume it does. For some it might be good to read Dr. Heiser’s, The 60 Second Scholar: 100 Maxims for Mastering Bible Study,’ first.Product details

The 60 Second Scholar 100 Observations on Bible Doctrine Dr Michael S Heiser 9780692500682 Books Reviews
THE best Bible scholar in modern times that I have seen I like Mike for his fidelity to Scripture
Great reference book. Mostly two-page, factual presentations. Heiser is always interesting.
Wonderful book! Makes sense out of the Bible in a busy life!
From a study perspective the book is good having various topics. Could use more discussion on some things. Although I don't agree with the water baptism for the Grace age I understand the thought process behind that doctrine. And the fact he makes no difference between Kingdom Gospel and Grace Gospel is disappointing.
The best and balanced view on biblical doctrine I have read. He is not afraid to speak out against tradition and challenges our minds to return to scripture. A must read for every Christian as it helps reform and fill in cracks in our foundation!
Heiser has attempted to offer simple, easy to understand, short observations on Bible Doctrine. I believe he has succeeded. I enjoy reading these "observations" daily and I believe his essays have furthered my understanding of very important contents of the Bible. Please add this to your warehouse of Biblical study material.
Thoroughly enjoyed this body of work from Dr. Mike Heiser. Those who are familiar with Mike's views will no doubt read these observations like an old friend. Those unfamiliar with Mike's views will find this material challenging and thought provoking. So whether an old friend or new to Dr. Heiser's work, his hope is to think well about the context of the Bible. I highly recommend this book!
